Who we are

Rationale is a pre-launch project building a study app for nursing students. The data controller is the Rationale team, based in the United Kingdom. For anything about your data, use our contact form.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist, we store:

DataWhy
Your email addressTo contact you about the launch
Your approximate country (from your connection, not your exact location)To understand where interest comes from
A source tag (for example, which of our social accounts sent you)To see which content is useful
Which version of the page headline you sawTo learn which wording explains the product best
The date and time you joinedRecord keeping

If you use the contact form, we also store the name (optional), email and message you send, and the date, so we can reply.

We do not collect your phone number, or payment details. We do not sell or share your data for advertising.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits. It does not use cookies or track you across sites. The page remembers which headline version you saw in your browser's local storage, so it stays the same if you come back. That value never leaves your device except as part of a sign-up.

How we use it

We will not use your email for anything else without asking you first.

Lawful basis

We rely on your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you give by submitting the form. You can withdraw it at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or through the contact form. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

How long we keep it

We keep your details until you ask us to delete them. Contact messages are deleted within 12 months of our reply. If Rationale has not launched within 12 months of the date you joined, we will delete them anyway.

Who processes it

The site and the waitlist database are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., acting as our processor (Cloudflare privacy policy, data processing addendum). Cloudflare may process data outside the UK, under the safeguards described in its data processing addendum.

Under UK data protection law, you can ask us to:

Send your request through the contact form and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will email the people on the waitlist.
