A client taking furosemide has a potassium level of 2.9 mEq/L. Which findings should the nurse expect?
- AMuscle weakness
- BLeg cramps
- CFlattened T waves
- DPeaked T waves
- EHyperactive bowel sounds
A, B and C
- AMuscle weakness
- BLeg cramps
- CFlattened T waves
- DPeaked T waves
- EHyperactive bowel sounds
Furosemide wastes potassium, and 2.9 is below the normal 3.5 to 5.0. Low potassium causes weakness, cramps and flattened T waves. Peaked T waves look right but signal high potassium. Bowel sounds become hypoactive, not hyperactive.

What you'll practise
- Two answers look right. Learn to spot the one that's “more right”: priority, safety, first action.
- Select all that apply. Stop picking one too few or one too many. Every option gets its own why.
- Pharm that sticks. Drug class, suffix, and the side effects exams ask about.
How it will work
- Add your lecture slides or notes, so practice matches what your course covers.
- Answer NCLEX-style questions, including select all that apply.
- Read the rationale for every option, then redo the ones you missed until they stick.
